Working Together to Alleviate Hunger in Haiti

Since January 2020, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has continued its progress around the world, infecting more than one million people to date. The virus has no treatment or vaccine yet, but in the U.S. and Canada we have strong government support and health systems. Unfortunately, this is not the case in rural Haiti.

The country of Haiti is now in full lockdown after reporting its first cases of coronavirus. Haiti has a population of more than 11 million people and is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Inadequate sanitation, poor infrastructure, lack of access to education and supplies, already made hygiene conditions critical and rural areas are the most vulnerable.

HavServe Responds:

Knowing the facts is key to being properly prepared and protecting oneself and loved ones. Since the beginning of February, the HavServe team quickly mobilized and is actively sharing, accurate information (How does the COVID-19 virus spread? What are the symptoms of coronavirus? How to avoid the risk of infection? What is the best way to wash hands? How to seek care if a parent or a child is having symptoms) and encouraging parents to avoid going to public places. Unfortunately, that makes it hard for the people of Lebrun to get needed food and supplies that are normally procured from the city. On top of the threat of the coronavirus, the students at HavServe International Academy and their families are facing the very real threat of hunger.

HavServe has a plan to feed vulnerable children and their families, but we need your help.

We're launching a fundraising campaign to provide needed funding for food supplies to each family in our school. We are asking a few of our key partners to rally their friends, family, and networks to support HavServe's response to the coronavirus outbreak in Haiti. By becoming a fundraiser for our cause, you will help more families at the HavServe International Academy fight hunger and reduce the risk of infection.

Getting started is easy to do, and it's fun. We'll even give you all the tools you'll need to make a difference. With your help, we know we can reach our campaign goal by April 31, 2020, we can ensure each family will get the food supplies needed in the village of Lebrun.

When you create a personal fundraiser page today for HavServe, you'll feed families and children in need during this time of crisis.

Will you help provide $30 for food supplies to each family in our school?

Thank you for caring about vulnerable children and families who don't have access to food and health services as the coronavirus closes schools in Haiti.
